3 Alabama football players the Miami Dolphins should consider drafting

2. DeVonta Smith, WR

I mean, the story writes itself on this one. DeVonta Smith and Tua Tagovailoa connected for one of the greatest plays in Alabama football history. Putting them on the same team once again doesn’t seem fair.

Many people believe that this is what the Dolphins will do with their first pick, and it makes sense. They need weapons, and Smith is likely the best receiver in the 2021 NFL Draft. He showed his speed and agility as a senior on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy, but his toughness sets him apart. He tried might be undersized, but he plays like he’s 6’5″.

Another Alabama football receiver might be on his way to the Dolphins. If they trade back with a team looking for a quarterback, Smith could be off of the board. Jaylen Waddle might make more sense for the Dolphins due to his ability to play in the slot. However, drafting Waddle third overall might be just a bit too early.

With that in mind, the Dolphins should seriously consider drafting DeVonta Smith with their first pick. He has all of the traits of a true WR1, and the Dolphins could use someone to open the field. Tua would trust Smith, and that alone would add value to Miami’s offense.
