Alabama Football: 3 worst NFL landing spots for Mac Jones
By Dakota Cox
Going from Alabama football to these teams would be bad for Mac Jones
Mac Jones was in the best possible situation with Alabama football. He had chemistry with his coaching staff, the best offensive line in the game, a future NFL stud at running back and a Heisman-winner at receiver. Needless to say, he might be finding himself in a worse situation in the NFL.
More than most quarterbacks, fit matters with Mac Jones. He can make an NFL team better, but his style of play relies on faith in the talent around him. He trusted every player in Tuscaloosa, and he needs to find a similar trust in the NFL.
There are plenty of great landing spots for Mac Jones in the 2021 NFL Draft, but these spots will cause an uphill climb.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
To be fair, this is incredibly unlikely. However, it was also unlikely that the Eagles drafted Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson and Jalen Hurts in the second round. Philly is always a wild card, regardless of who is in charge of the draft.
Jalen Hurts is obviously the guy for the Eagles as of now, but there is a chance that they will draft a quarterback to add competition. This would be understandable if the right quarterback fell to them, but Mac Jones is a terrible scheme fit for the Eagles.
The only reason that Jalen Hurts has seen success is his ability to make a play when things break down. He thrives in chaos, and that was the usual setting for the Eagles. Mac Jones doesn’t work like that, and this would make it harder for the Eagles to add talent on the offensive line or at receiver.
Alabama football fans would hate this on a number of levels. It would cause a quarterback competition between two of the few Tide quarterbacks in the NFL. One player would be forced on the bench, and neither would likely benefit from this pairing.
