Alabama Football: 3 worst NFL landing spots for DeVonta Smith
By Dakota Cox
These are the worst landing spots for Alabama football’s DeVonta Smith
No receiver in the history of Alabama football has seen more success than DeVonta Smith. He won two national championships along with the Heisman Trophy, and he might become the highest-drafted receiver in the history of the Crimson Tide in the upcoming NFL draft.
Smith has a wide variety of skills that would make him an asset for a wide variety of teams. His speed will be crucial for some teams. His agility will be valuable for other schemes, and some will prefer his strength at the catch point and wide catch radius.
While many teams will want to draft DeVonta Smith, not every team is a great landing spot. Smith might succeed anywhere, but these are the worst places for him to be drafted.
3. Washington Football Team
This is a bad landing spot for two main reasons. For starters, Washington drafts late in the 2021 NFL Draft. The only way they could add Smith is if he were to fall, which would literally cost him millions of dollars.
Also, Washington needs to figure out the problem at quarterback. The worst thing you can give a rookie wide receiver is inconsistency at quarterback. Smith can be an asset to a vibrant offense, but he won’t find that in Washington.
Washington has plenty of Alabama football players on the roster, and they need depth at wide receiver. It’s not their biggest need, but they would add Smith if he were to somehow fall to them. Still, this won’t be a proper landing spot for a receiver until Ron Rivera solves the issues at quarterback.
