There might be some good news for Alabama football

While watching Alabama football win yet another national title last season was thrilling, one common frustration was with seating capacity. Due to COVID-19, very few fans were able to attend games in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

While everyone hopes that the pandemic will soon be over, predicting an end date feels weird given what we have all experienced over the past year. However, vaccination rollout has brought hope to everyone. Another thing that should bring hope is that UA has announced that classes will be in-person in the fall with full capacity.

This is a step in the right direction, but it is far from a guarantee. After all, UA said similar things about last fall’s semester before finally announcing hybrid classes and limited capacity. Still, let’s assume for the sake of the argument that Alabama will have full capacity in the classroom. If that is so, it should also mean that Alabama football fans can attend games in the fall.

There is currently a risk that goes with doing anything, but UA has been parallel with its handling of sports and academics. Both have had limited capacity. Both were canceled last March. The same goes for social distancing guidelines and mask ordinances.

With that in mind, it is safe to assume that sporting events will continue to follow the academic guidelines. If students can pack classrooms after it was proven that classes could be taught online, fans should be able to pack stadiums.

Again, there is always a possibility that UA will go back on its word and continue online learning if things don’t improve. Right now is when many students are making college decisions, and hearing that classes will be in-person will help them choose Alabama. There is an ulterior motive here. Still, there should at least be hope that Alabama football fans can attend games in 2021.

It hurt for many fans to not be able to see the Tide in person during one of the most successful seasons in school history. Hopefully, more fans will be available to watch the revenge tour.
