Alabama football players who exceeded 3 star ranking: 17. Josh Chapman

Josh Chapman was no recruiting surprise. Rivals rated Josh as the No. 12 high school player in the state of Alabama. Besides Alabama, Chapman had offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Auburn.

Chapman redshirted in 2007 after appearing in a single game, against Vandy. In 2008 and 2009  Chapman played as a backup to Terrance Cody. Chapman played 17 games those seasons and made 15 tackles.

Chapman became a starter in 2010 and played in 22 games in 2010 and 2011. He finished his Alabama career with 88 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks. He was named Second-team All-SEC in 2012.

Chapman was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Chapman did not play in 2012 due to an injury. He played in 13 games for the Colts in 2013 with no starts. He made 15 tackles in 2013.

In 2014 Chapman became a starter for the Colts. He played in 16 games in 2014, starting in 15 games. In 2014 he made 21 tackles. He was waived by the Colts days before the start of the 2015 regular season.

In 2016 Josh was added to the strength and conditioning staff at Alabama.
