Alabama Football: 30 Tide Greats who exceeded their 3-Star high school rankings
By Ronald Evans
Alabama football players who exceeded 3 star ranking: 1. Mac Jones
- Quarterback (2017-2020)
- 2017 Recruit Ranking: No. 399 in the nation2020 Consensus All-American
- 2020 Winner: Davey O’Brien, Johnny Unitas and Manning Awards
- 2020: Heisman Trophy Finalist
- 2020: No. 1 NCAA Single-Season Completion Percentage (77.4)
- 2020: No. 1 Alabama Single-Season Passing Yards (4,500 yards)
- No.1 Alabama Career, Most 400-yard passing games
In retrospect, Mac Jones was undervalued, not just by recruiting experts but by Alabama Crimson Tide fans as well. What he accomplished in his last Tide season is astounding. His 2020 QB stats, finishing with an NCAA-leading 201.1 passer rating and 96.1 QBR were extraordinary.
Like his more highly rated (4-Star) but still undervalued teammate, DeVonta Smith, Mac Jones proved the value of believing in yourself, hard work and determination.
Mac Jones should prosper as an NFL starting quarterback.
