Alabama Basketball: College basketball is a tournament sport, so SEC teams are starting over In Nashville. Check out this Power Ranking of SEC teams.

The bracket is set for the SEC Tournament. Alabama Basketball is the No. 1 seed in Nashville. The Arkansas Razorbacks are No. 2. Does that mean the two teams will meet again on Sunday for the SEC Tournament Championship? Will there be upsets among the other SEC teams? This pre-SEC Tournament Power Ranking provides clues for answers to those questions.

We’ll work from the bottom up and begin by stating the next four teams will not pull off a major SEC Tournament upset.

No. 14 (and No. 13 Tournament Seed) – Texas A&M Aggies

The SEC wisely chose to require a minimum number of games and the Aggies did not play any games in February. So TAMU is at the bottom of the 13 seeds for the 2021 SEC Tournament. Auburn, self-imposing a post-season ban, made the field 13 teams rather than the normal 14. The Aggies have been competitive in two March losses and could win Wednesday night against Vandy.

No. 13 and No. 12 Tournament Seed – Vanderbilt Commodores

The Dores have one of the league’s best players in Scottie Pippen Jr. Vandy lost Pippen for three games due to a bruised hip. Dores’ big man, Dylan Disu had a recent knee surgery and is out for the season. With Disu, the Dores could beat the Aggies Wednesday night. It will be tough without him.

No. 12 and No. 11 Tournament Seed – South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina has never recovered from missing almost three weeks of practice and nearly a month of games in December. Except for a win against Georgia, the Gamecocks have lost by double-digits in every game but two, since early February. Alabama basketball fans remember one of their closer losses when the Tide only beat them by three points. They face Ole Miss in the late game Thursday.

No. 11 – Auburn Tigers

The Tigers are finished for the 2020-21 season and the least said about them, the better.
