Dallas drafts another Alabama football corner

10. Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain, CB, Alabama

Denver took the first corner of the 2021 NFL Draft, but Dallas gets the best in Patrick Surtain. In terms of fit, this is a dream scenario for all parties. Dallas needs to get younger and cheaper in the secondary, and their scheme works for a man corner like Patrick Surtain.

There would be value in playing for the Cowboys. If you can thrive in Dallas, you’re a legend for one of the best franchises in the history of sports.

Dallas has made some bad decisions regarding who to sign, and it has forced them to make some tough decisions. They just signed Dak to a massive contract, and they have other large contracts on offense. With that being the case, drafting well on defense is crucial. Surtain would help lock down elite receivers in the NFC East as he plays on the outside.

Surtain would be playing alongside his former Alabama football teammate in the secondary. The Cowboys drafted Diggs in the second round last year, but they need more secondary help in 2021. Signing Dak frees them up to take a defensive player and avoid the need at quarterback.

Drafting a corner won’t be enough to save the Dallas Cowboys, but it will be a step in the right direction to improve the Cowboys.
