Aaron Rodgers finally gets a new wide receiver
29. Green Bay Packers: Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU
Last year, it was clear that Aaron Rodgers needed a weapon to help this offense reach the next level. Instead, they drafted a quarterback in the first round. They also added a running back despite the presence of Aaron Jones.
Rodgers persevered, but he still needs some help. Even with the growth of Allen Lazard, they could use another receiver to add a wrinkle to the offense. Despite their inabilities to commit to one of the best quarterbacks ever, the Packers will finally give Rodgers a weapon in the first round.
They’re getting a good one in Terrace Marshall. He was buried on the depth chart in 2019 behind Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. Adding in the running backs and tight ends, Marshall barely got targeted. However, he became the top target in 2020, and he proved himself without the talent around him. If a receiver can thrive on the 2020 LSU squad, they have to be something special.
However, he opted out late in the year before playing against teams like Alabama football and Florida. If he had finished out the season, he could have become a lock to be drafted in the first round.
The ranking of these receivers will be disputed, but I have Marshall in the second tier. I still have him going late in the first round, though.
