Tua might actually be throwing to an Alabama football receiver this year

Since the end of the Alabama football season, fans have been hoping that the Dolphins would add a Tide receiver to pair with Tua Tagovailoa. They did just that, but it is not who fans were expecting.

At the beginning of the free agency period, the Dolphins signed free agent Robert Foster, a former Washington and Buffalo receiver. In three seasons in the NFL, he has 32 total receptions with an average of over 20 yards a catch. He also has three career touchdowns, but he hasn’t scored a touchdown since his rookie season.

Foster was a highly-touted receiver recruit when he chose to play for Alabama football. He was a five-star recruit, but he was buried on the depth chart by Calvin Ridley and other receivers. During his senior year, the freshman class of Jeudy, Ruggs and Smith limited his targets. This was exacerbated by Jalen Hurts locking in on Ridley for almost every passing play. Over four years with Alabama football, he only played in 19 games and had 35 catches.

Foster and Tua Tagovailoa were teammates during Foster’s senior year, but Tagovailoa didn’t see a major role until the National Championship. They will be hoping for more success with the Miami Dolphins this upcoming season.

This might not keep Miami from adding another Alabama football wide receiver. Foster is a good rotation receiver, but Miami still needs a WR1. This could be DeVonta Smith or Jaylen Waddle in a potential trade scenario. We have predicted for Miami to draft DeVonta since our first NFL mock draft of the offseason.

No matter how the rest of free agency goes, Miami has at least one more target in the mix. Foster will add outside speed, but the Dolphins need a reliable receiver to make Tua’s life easier in his second NFL season.

We’ll see what else the Dolphins do, but this takes another Tide player on an official roster.
