Keys for Alabama basketball to reach the Final Four
1. Time for JQ to shine
Alabama basketball has been lucky enough to have dominant point guards since Collin Sexton. Kira Lewis filled in when Sexton went to the NBA, and Jahvon Quinerly was next in the pipeline. However, Quinerly has taken a back seat in the Alabama offense. He provides a spark off the bench.
In recent weeks, Quinerly’s role has increased. He’s a better ballhandler, and he is one of the best perimeter shooters in the country. He fits perfectly in Oats’ scheme, and his development has coincided with team improvement.
JQ won MVP of the SEC Tournament, but he still has more to prove. After sitting out for a year, he wants to show that he is the player fans saw when he was recruited. He can do that in Indianapolis, and that would help Alabama reach the Final Four.
Depth matters during deep NCAA Tournament runs. Having a star come off the bench will be crucial. If Alabama gets out to a lead, he can extend it. If the Tide struggle early, he can turn things around.
Quinerly’s progress has been crucial for the Tide this year. He will play a pivotal role in Alabama basketball’s run to the Final Four.
Ohio State has already been upset in the first round, so every game clearly matters. These are the Tide’s keys to come out of the region unscathed.
