Alabama Football: What to expect in Tide’s second Pro Day
By Dakota Cox
Alabama football is having a second NFL Pro Day
Recently, all Alabama football players looking to be drafted had a chance to show their skills in the Tide’s first NFL Pro Day. They now get a second opportunity, and things will be slightly different.
Without an NFL Combine, this will be the last chance for Tide players to show their skills in front of all NFL teams. While some will get private interviews and workouts, there is a great chance for progress to be made.
So, what can fans expect from the second Pro Day of the offseason?
Mac Jones will take center stage
This will be Mac Jones’s second attempt to throw in front of scouts at a Pro Day. He did well last time, but he will make even more throws than his previous workout. Expect a new script with rollout passes to show his versatility and athleticism within the pocket.
This workout will be attended by the San Francisco 49ers. They just traded up to third overall, and some believe they made this move for Mac Jones. Either way, they will get a chance to evaluate him once again.
Who will Mac be throwing to?
This is the real question. During his last workout, Mac Jones wasn’t throwing to Jaylen Waddle or DeVonta Smith. We’ll have to wait and see if they work out this time. If so, we might also get to see them run the 40-yard dash. This shouldn’t have a major impact on their NFL Draft stock, but both players should light up the stopwatch if they choose to run.
Measurements will matter
At the last Alabama football Pro Day, Deonte Brown proved that he had slimmed up. He’s still a mauler, but he has been sticking to a diet to lose weight for the NFL. He lost weight from the Senior Bowl to the Pro Day. If he weighs in again, he can show continued success.
We might also get DeVonta Smith’s official measurements. This is unlikely since he has avoided doing so throughout the entire offseason. However, his weight has been debated for months.
If more Alabama football players work out this time, fans will be in for a treat as the NFL Draft approaches.
