2021 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

10. Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain, CB, Alabama

The third Alabama football player in a row comes off of the board here. In terms of scheme fit, this is the best landing spot for Patrick Surtain. He would immediately start, and he has what it takes to thrive in Dallas.

Dallas has a lot invested in the offense so far. They have Dak Prescott signed on for the future. Zeke Elliot struggled last season, but his contract will keep him in Dallas. They drafted a receiver in the first round in 2020. Unless they want to take the second-best lineman in the class, they will have to take a defensive player.

Surtain has the skills necessary to thrive in the NFL. SEC quarterbacks refused to throw at him in college. He is the best corner in the class, and many believe that he is the best defensive player in the class.

Surtain would be playing alongside his former Alabama football teammate in Trevon Diggs. While Diggs had a large role as a rookie, the Cowboys still need to add talent to the secondary. This is one of the most important positions in football, and you can never go wrong with adding the best corner of the class.

The value makes sense. The fit makes sense. Everything lines up for Surtain to become a Cowboy, and that’s why I have him going there in this 2021 NFL mock draft.
