2021 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

11. New York Giants: Kwity Paye, EDGE, Michigan

In my last 2021 NFL mock draft, I had the Giants taking Alabama football’s Jaylen Waddle. That could easily still be the move. However, they addressed the offense in free agency. Unless they add an offensive lineman, I see them addressing the defense.

The NFC East has plenty of talented defensive linemen in the division. The Giants need to add an edge rusher to keep up with teams like Washington. This is the easiest way to make an impact with just one player.

Kwity Paye did not have tremendous production at Michigan. However, we’ve seen players thrive in the NFL despite a lack of production with the Wolverines. You can’t judge Paye on his production. When you look at his traits, you realize that he is likely the best edge rusher in the class.

The edge class doesn’t have any top-level players as we’ve seen in the past. Chase Young and the Bosa brothers were anomalies, but there isn’t anyone that even approaches their value in the first round. The class also isn’t incredibly deep, so watch out for the few talented players to be snatched up.

There are other defensive players that add value here, but I see the Giants taking an edge rusher if they like the value. Because of that, I have then taking Paye.
