2021 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

21. Indianapolis Colts: Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami

The Colts have a nice core on offense. The offensive line is solid overall. They bring back T.Y. Hilton and have a young group at receiver. Jonathan Taylor was a great find for them in the 2020 NFL Draft, and Carson Wentz is set to succeed in Indy.

While they could add a tackle, the recent run makes that hard to do right here. They will instead look for a better value in the second round. That frees Indy up to focus on the defense, and they could go in a lot of ways. With the run on corners and the top two linebackers off of the board, I see them taking Gregory Rousseau at edge.

Indianapolis has plenty of needs on defense, but adding an edge rusher is crucial. That gives them flexibility with what they want to do defensively, and it’s the best value on the board.

Gregory Rousseau was thought of as one of the best defensive players in the draft earlier this year. However, it hurt that he didn’t play last year. If he had repeated his 2019 success, he would be a lock in the top 10. However, another Miami player had similar success in 2020 with Rousseau off the field.
