2021 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Christian Barmore, IDL, Alabama

Jacksonville landed their franchise quarterback with the first overall pick. There really isn’t much that they could do with this pick and not make the franchise happy. While drafting a defensive tackle isn’t necessarily an attractive pick, it will add to their defensive front as they try to bring back the era of Sacksonville.

Urban Meyer is new to the NFL. While he won’t be the only person in the decision-making process, it’s safe to assume he will be advocating for players he knows will contribute early.

Jacksonville would prefer to add weapons to the offense, but there isn’t much of a need here. They can add a running back in the second round, and they have solid receivers on the roster. They can simply add depth later in the draft. The offensive line needs help, but they’ll have Alabama football’s Cam Robinson coming back at left tackle.

Barmore is a young prospect with room to grow. He is a freak athlete despite his size, and he can make players miss inside. His size will muddy the trenches, but his athleticism will help him get to the passer.

With running backs like Derrick Henry in the division, it’s important to win the trenches. Christian Barmore would help with that effort, and that’s why I have him landing here in this 2021 NFL mock draft.
