2021 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

29. Green Bay Packers: Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State

Last year, the Packers left the draft with a backup quarterback in the first round. They then addressed needs that weren’t really needs and did practically nothing to help their franchise quarterback. The moves might have motivated Aaron Rodgers, but he was still left without help.

That’s why many will beg for the Packers to add a receiver, and I almost did. However, the value of Teven Jenkins is too good to pass up here. With their future uncertain with the offensive line, they can add a starter-quality tackle late in the first round. That rarely happens, so the Packers need to seize the opportunity.

Due to Green Bay’s inability to cater to Aaron Rodgers, their future is now in flux. They can either commit to Rodgers (assuming he is willing to) and build to win now or begin the rebuild. Either way, Jenkins adds value. He’s not perfect, but he can help contribute.

Jenkins played on the right side in college, but I believe that good players can pivot when necessary. Green Bay just needs to get five quality offensive linemen in the starting lineup, and this is a step closer to doing just that. If he needs to start at left tackle or stay on the right side, he is still an upgrade to the entire unit.
