Alabama Football: Mac rises in 2021 NFL Mock Draft 4.0
By Dakota Cox
9. Denver Broncos: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
During the actual 2021 NFL Draft, Denver will almost certainly have to trade up if they want a quarterback. However, many teams have solved their quarterback issues. The Panthers traded for Sam Darnold. The Falcons have restructured their contract with Matt Ryan, so he will likely stay for multiple seasons. With these moves, fewer and fewer teams look like they will take a quarterback in the first round, and that is why Fields falls to the Broncos.
Fields would instantly have weapons in Denver that few teams have. He would be throwing touchdowns to Alabama football’s Jerry Jeudy, and his athleticism would add an extra wrinkle to this team. While he would have to play against some of the best young quarterbacks within his division, this is still a great landing spot for him.
10. Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
If the Cowboys decide to pick here and not trade up, they will almost definitely take a defensive player. They have plenty of needs on the defensive side of the ball, but corner is the top need as of right now. Landing the best corner in the draft with the 10th overall pick is a win.
This would pair Surtain with his former Alabama football teammate Trevon Diggs. This young tandem would give Dallas solid ground that they can use to build around defensively.
