15. New England Patriots: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State

This is why it is so hard to do mock drafts without having trades. If Lance were to actually slide, someone would likely trade up and take him. The Patriots themselves might even trade up if they think he is their future at quarterback. However, the supply is greater than the demand in this case, and the Patriots land a top quarterback in the first round.

We’ve seen quarterbacks fall before. Last year, Jordan Love fell, and the Packers traded up to take him. Lance won’t fall beyond the fifteenth pick, but he could have a slight slide. With so many teams making free-agency moves that involve quarterbacks, there isn’t a great fit.

Still, Lance would have a great career in New England and would prove everyone wrong if this were to happen.

16. Arizona Cardinals: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

Arizona would love to add a weapon as well, but they desperately need to draft a cornerback who can start as a rookie. There aren’t many of those in this draft, but Jaycee Horn is one of them.

Horn has good tape, but he really shined as an athlete at the NFL Combine. With Caleb Farley’s medicals remaining a question mark, he has risen up the rankings. He would fit well on this team, and he would almost definitely start in every game of his rookie season.
