5 takeaways from Alabama football’s A-Day Game

4. Keilan Robinson remains a running back

An interesting exchange on Alabama’s official roster raised eyebrows as Keilan Robinson was momentarily listed as a wide receiver instead of a running back. This caused rumors to spread and questions to be answered. After all, Robinson sat out all of last season, and his speed would be an asset on the outside if his receiving skills improved.

While there still might be more to this story, Robinson remained a running back in the A-Day Game for Alabama football. Due to the depth at the position, his reps were limited. Still, he ran the ball and lined up in the backfield.

Alabama was also without Brian Robinson, who did not play in this game. When he returns, the Tide will have the deepest group of running backs since Alvin Kamara couldn’t see the field in Tuscaloosa. Roydell Williams and Jase McClellan have starter potential, and Keilan Robinson is right there in the mix.

Robinson didn’t do much with his limited carries, but this was his first time playing in front of fans since 2019. He was also lining up against Alabama’s defense, which is better than almost any he would see in 2021.

Robinson is one of the fastest players on the roster. Once he gets an opportunity in the fall, he will make the most of it. For now, it appears that he will get that opportunity at running back.
