Alabama football breaks record in NFL Mock Draft 5.0

10. Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain, CB, Alabama

The bad news for the Dallas Cowboys is that they can’t land Kyle Pitts without trading up. The good news is that they need help on the defensive side of the ball. With nine offensive players off the board, they have their choice of every defensive guy in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys need a corner to play alongside Alabama football’s Trevon Diggs, and Surtain would be great. He is the best corner in the draft, and his skill set fits what the Cowboys want to do defensively.

Surtain was great in coverage during his time with Alabama football. As a junior, he clamped down an entire half of the football field. Most quarterbacks were afraid to throw at him because he was liable to make a play on the ball.

Surtain would thrive in Dallas. He would have marketing opportunities due to the brand, and he could instantly start for a team looking to win the division. If he were to succeed, every NFL fan would know his name. That’s the power of the brand, and Surtain could use it to his advantage.

It makes sense on the field. It would be great off the field. The Cowboys should want to draft Alabama football’s Patrick Surtain, and Surtain should want to head to Dallas.
