Alabama football breaks a record in NFL Mock Draft 5.0

9. Denver Broncos: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

The Denver Broncos are a quarterback away from being a really good team. Their defense is solid at key positions. They drafted Alabama football’s Jerry Jeudy last year, and he will take a step forward in his sophomore season. They have weapons and the chance to improve on the offensive line. Their biggest weakness is Drew Lock, and they have to bring in some competition.

Lock is a quality quarterback, but he’s not good enough. Fields has what it takes to move the needle in a tough division full of young teams. He has a history of winning, and his athleticism will help mask the issues on the offensive line.

The Broncos should be looking to trade up in the actual draft. Teams will be desperate to get their guy at quarterback, and you can’t trust that Fields will fall in your lap like this. However, you have to take him if he does.

The Broncos need other players, but the two best offensive linemen are off of the board. If they pass on Fields, look for them to take a corner or even Micah Parsons. It’s hard to figure out what they will do, but you have to assume that they are keeping up with the quarterbacks.
