Alabama Football: ’21 class will not be finished until July
By Ronald Evans
Alabama Football still has a big 2021 get in the mind. The ‘get’ is 2021 defensive end target, J.T. Tuimoloau. Every school with any chance to sign Tuimoloau has been just like the Alabama Crimson Tide – patient. The young man has been insistent in taking official visits before choosing a college.
For Tuimoloau, the visit process begins soon with a short car ride into Seattle to visit the Huskies. Does proximity to J.T.’s home in nearby Sammamish, WA give the Huskies an edge? No one knows for sure, but it is reasonable to think if he wants to play college ball at Washington, he would have known that long ago.
Tuimoloau has given no clues as to whether one school leads for his signature. After Washington, he will visit USC, Ohio State, Oregon and finish his visits in Tuscaloosa in late June. Many recruiting experts claim Ohio State leads for the 5-Star, but most of those picks are months old.
None of the experts know what school Tuimoloau will choose. He may not know yet. Alabama football fans are heartened by the fact Nick Saban gets the last slot to land him. Unless J.T. gets blown away at an earlier visit and makes a sudden decision, Saban’s closing prowess puts the Crimson Tide in a great position.
Check out Tuimoloau’s junior highlights below. He is No. 33.
An onslaught of 2022 and 2023 talent will be in Tuscaloosa in June. The Alabama Crimson Tide has high school camps scheduled on June 2, 5, 7, 9, 14, 21, 23 and June 26. An Ol-DL camp is set for June 19. Kickers will camp in Tuscaloosa on June 12.
Crimson Tide fans are expecting a rash of June and early July verbal commitments in the 2022 class. The first of those could well be 4-Star, linebacker Shemar James, from Faith Academy in Mobile, AL.
James is expected to arrive on June 4 for an official visit. Other top prospects coming in the same weekend are 4-Star wide receiver, Barion Brown and 5-Star defensive lineman, Peter Woods. Two high-profile Crimson Tide commits will also be in Tuscaloosa the same weekend. 5-Star quarterback, Ty Simpson and 5-Star running back Emmanuel Henderson will try to help lock down Brown.
As we discussed a few days ago, Nick Saban is changing the recruiting world by adjusting to the new rules. For that reason, Saban may continue to be patient with the Alabama Football 2022 class. He can take the top high school players and also leave slots open for future transfers.
In the 247Sports Composite, the Crimson Tide has the No. 17 2022 class. The Team Ranking is low based on quantity (six verbals) rather than quality.
