Alabama Football has landed their second commit in the past week on Thursday afternoon, with this arguably being the biggest of all in their 2022 class.

After landing 4-star in-state ATH Antonio Kite on Sunday, the Crimson Tide have landed yet another player on the defensive side of the ball. As mentioned previously however, this might just be the biggest recruiting win and arguably biggest addition to Alabama’s 2022 recruiting class up to this point, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Alabama Football lands commitment from 5-star DE Jeremiah Alexander.

Alabama has landed a commitment from 5-star DE Jeremiah Alexander. If you’re wondering where you’ve heard that name before, you probably have as Alexander was once the very first commit in Alabama’s 2022 class, but decomitted back in October of 2020.

Now back committed to the Crimson Tide, you don’t have to look very far to see that this is a massive win for the Alabama defense for years to come.

Rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama, Alexander attends in-state powerhouse Thompson High School in Alabaster where he has helped lead the Warriors to back-to-back 7A state championships.

Alexander is also rated as a 5-star prospect, as well as the No. 16 overall recruit in the country and the No. 1 edge rusher overall. The in-state product committed to the Crimson Tide over Clemson, but also received interest from multiple high profile programs across the country.

When looking at his on-field play, Alexander has starred on the Warriors defense ever since he was a freshman. During that time, Alexander has collected 309 tackles, 72 TFL, 24 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles in three seasons at Thompson.

It’s obvious that this is a massive recruiting win for Alabama’s 2022 class. Not only do you land one of the top overall players in the country, but you land the top player in the state of Alabama for the third consecutive year (2020 – Demouy Kennedy, 2021 – GaQuincy McKinstry), along with landing the top in-state player in seven of the last 10 years.

Alexander should be a candidate to play a feature-role on Alabama’s defense from day one. Are we in store for yet another No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2022 as well?
