1. Cornerback

Alabama will enter the 2021 season with returning senior Josh Jobe set at one cornerback position. Jobe ranked sixth on the Crimson Tide defense a year ago with 55 tackles, while also second on the team in passes defensed with 11.

Jobe should be one of the better corners in the SEC this season, but the question 100% in Alabama’s secondary will be how do they replace three-year starter and unanimous First-Team All-American Patrick Surtain II.

This will obviously be one of the biggest questions entering Fall Camp, but who will emerge as the starter opposite Jobe at corner? When looking at potential options, there are arguably two favorites that stick out in particular in redshirt junior Jalyn Armour-Davis and five-star freshman Kool-Aid McKinstry.

Armour-Davis has seen mainly action on special teams the previous two seasons, but earned first-team reps at corner over the spring. McKinstry on the other hand is one of the top incoming freshman corners in the country, and should be considered as a potential impact player from day one.

While others including Marcus Banks and more will certainly see action as well, the battle during Fall Camp between Armour-Davis and McKinstry may be the most must-watch leading into the season.
