Alabama Football 2021 Season Preview: Quarterbacks
By Matt Melton
Paul Tyson
Class: Redshirt Sophomore
HT/WT: 6’5, 228 LBs.
Hometown: Trussville, AL
High School: Hewitt-Trussville
Number: 17
Entering year three with the Crimson Tide, Paul Tyson did not appear in a game last season after only appearing during one game in 2019 while redshirting.
Tyson was a highly-rated in-state quarterback in the Class of 2019 from Hewitt-Trussville, one of the best high school football teams in the state of Alabama. During his high school career, Tyson finished his career with a 19-5 record as a starter while throwing for over 6,500 yards and 69 TD’s with the Huskies, while also completing 68.2% of his passes, second-most in AHSAA 7A history.
Tyson will most-likely serve as the primary back-up to Young to begin the 2021 season, and should very early-on see his first notable on-field collegiate action. The redshirt sophomore is an exciting player to watch due to his size and arm talent, and the former four-star recruit should provide some much-needed depth at a young Alabama quarterback position.
Prediction for 2021 Season Stat Line:
20/35, 250 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 8 rushes, 10 yards, 1 TD
