By Matt Melton
Javon Baker
Class: Sophomore
HT/WT: 6’2, 206 LBs.
Hometown: Atlanta, GA
High School: McEachern
Number: 5
Emerging at the end of the season a year ago as a freshman helping to replace Waddle, Javon Baker returns for year two as a popular breakout candidate among this wide receiver group after totaling 15 yards on two catches last season.
A former consensus four-star recruit, Baker saw time on special teams throughout his freshman season while emerging as the No. 3 receiver for the Tide at the end of the season catching both of his passes in the regular season finale against Arkansas. After coming to Alabama as a talented receiver from the state of Georgia, Baker emerged as arguably the top receiver from last seasons freshman class making him a candidate to enter this season as Alabama’s No. 3 receiver.
When looking at this position group as a whole, Baker is a popular breakout candidate going into the 2021 campaign. Capable of lining up at multiple places on the field, Baker should be a primary target for the Crimson Tide from day one.
Prediction for 2021 Season Stat Line:
45 catches, 600 yards, 7 TD
