A familiar scene in recent years, Alabama Football has delved into the state of Georgia once again to secure a commitment from one of the top players available.

Alabama Football lands commitment from three-star safety Jake Pope.

After landing three-star offensive tackle Dayne Shor at the end of July, the Crimson Tide has landed yet another commitment, this time coming from the state of Georgia in three-star safety Jake Pope. Pope committed to the Crimson Tide, whom he recently visited back on June 25, over a long list of schools headlined by a final list of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.

A native of Buford, GA, Pope is rated as a three-star prospect according to 247Sports. Pope is also rated by 247Sports Composite as the No. 371 overall player nationally, the No. 26 safety in the country, and the No. 37 player in the state of Georgia.

Attending Buford High School, Pope is a very versatile athlete who has spent time over the past two years at three different positions for the Wolves – safety, wide receiver, and kick returner. Looking at last season alone, Pope played a massive role for a Buford team that won the Georgia 6A state championship.

Capable of playing multiple positions, it is unknown as to which Pope will settle in at the next level. What is known however is that Pope has extensive experience on both sides of the ball, and his athleticism will allow him to excel as either a safety or wide receiver, while also a prominent player on special teams.

The addition of Pope gives Alabama commit No. 14 of the 2022 class, while also adding yet another versatile player to an already Top 5 class nationally. This is also the second defensive back commit for the Crimson Tide joining four-star Antonio Kite, and the seventh overall defensive commit.
