Crimson Tide vs. Canes Bold Prediction No. 4

Offensive line is supposed to be a strength for Miami. Returning starters and key backups have played in close to 150 games. A big problem for the Canes is left tackle, Zion Nelson has reportedly not practiced in two weeks. Manny Diaz says Nelson will be ready for the Crimson Tide, but even some Miami fans are skeptical.

Whether he plays or not, Crimson Tide defenders will frequently pressure D’Eriq King. King will escape a few times and connect on some quick throws but the much-improved Tide defense will make it difficult for the Canes to find a rhythm. The steady pressure will cause four sacks and half a dozen quarterback hurries.

Crimson Tide vs. Canes Bold Prediction No. 5

Compared to the bold play-calling of Steve Sarkisian last season, Bill O’Brien will use a condensed playbook Saturday. One reason is the need for pass-protection improvement from the offensive line. The other is to bring Bryce Young along slowly. Another reason is, why show Todd Grantham anymore than Saban wants him to see? Plus, as the rushing prediction suggests, there will be no need for O’Brien to be bold.

As a result, the Crimson Tide will score only 38 points, while the defense holds the Canes to 14. The last bold prediction is some Crimson Tide fans will be disappointed in that outcome and worry about what has happened to the Tide’s explosive offense.
