Sometimes an added value in an Alabama Football roster is little noticed. An old theorem about college football is what separates great teams from good teams is more the next 22 or so players, below the starters on a depth chart. Old or not, the premise still holds true, especially on the defensive line, outside linebackers, wide receivers, running backs and tight ends.

Alabama Football is so blessed with talent any one of a group of 50-60 players can break through in a season, a game and sometimes even with an individual play. Tana Patrick, back in 2013 made one of those individual, breakout plays with a forced fumble less than two yards from an LSU touchdown.

This post highlights 10 Alabama Crimson Tide players predicted to have breakout performances during the 2021 season. They are a mixture of first, second and third-year Crimson Tide players. Five, maybe six of them will start against Miami. With one exception this group of 10 Tide players were highly touted recruits, though one has changed positions since high school.

Alabama Football Breakout No. 1

The first one is an easy pick. The sophomore starter at quarterback, Bryce Young has been groomed for his pivotal role. Though short on game experience, his skills are obvious. Young has the complete QB package of passing accuracy, mobility, quick decision making and leadership skills. The Crimson Tide needs him to have a big season and there is little doubt about Bryce delivering.
