No. 4 Ole Miss –  (last week No. 6) Predicted regular season ceiling  – 9 wins

Lane’s Kiffin’s offense will put up points. At quarterback, Lane has one of the league’s best in QB Matt Corral. Running back Jerrion Ealy is an outstanding player. The 43-24 win over Louisville did not prove the Ole Miss defense is much improved.  Against top SEC teams, the Rebels cannot overcome the targeting calls it had against the Cardinals. At the least, against Louisville, the Ole Miss defense appeared to be stronger than last season. Also, even against Louisville, it is no small thing Ole Miss won without Lane in Atlanta.

No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies – (last week No. 3) Predicted regular season ceiling – 10 wins

The Aggies are strong defensively. Jimbo may have a quality successor to Kellen Mond at quarterback. Haynes King showed flashes of special, despite throwing three interceptions. The 41-10 win over Kent State was a sluggish start for the Aggies.

No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs – Predicted regular season ceiling – 12 wins

The defense was exceptional in shutting down Clemson’s offense, leading to a 10-3 victory. J.T. Daniels might become what Georgia fans hope him to be. He is not there yet. There is no reason for Kirby’s team to not reach the SEC Championship game

No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide – (last week No. 1) Predicted regular season ceiling – 12 wins

The 2021 Crimson Tide is so good, it is impossible to determine if Miami is a pretty good team or overrated. The Canes were never in the game against the Tide. Some serious gliding kept the Tide offense from not making the outcome worse than 44-13. Bryce Young plays like a seasoned Heisman contender. The defense can be sensational – and possibly the best in college football.
