Welcome back to college football! It was a wild weekend for just about everyone except Alabama football, who took care of business in convincing fashion. Many of the preseason top 25 teams struggled against decidedly inferior competition with a couple falling victim to the early season upset.
To be fair, I believed most of the teams that struggled this past weekend to be overrated in the first place, but nobody asks my opinion for these preseason polls so I’m left just to say, “I told you so” after the fact.
If you’re new here then let me go ahead and preface this with a spoiler alert, Alabama football is going to be in the top spot. No surprise there. There was no other team who was as dominant against a quality opponent quite like the Crimson Tide this weekend.
That being said, it was a tough task to try to sift through the rest of the chaos that transpired over a 5-day football marathon. Here is how I see the national rankings after week 1. Note, I am not taking into account any of the national polls and previous rankings. This is just who I thought were the 25 best teams in week 1.
