Alabama Football: Week One College Football Power Rankings
Former Alabama football QB Taulia Tagovailoa had a strong outing against West Virginia to lead the Terrapins to a big win. Will they maintain this momentum or fizzle out like last season? Only time will tell.
Ole Miss looked like a very good team against Louisville. The only reason I don’t have them higher on this list is because I don’t think that Louisville is very good. They were also very undisciplined, racking up a ton of penalties. That could come back to bite them in close games in the future. It will be two tune-up games before a showdown with Alabama football in Tuscaloosa the first week of October.
Hard to lose a game by 30+ and still make your way into the top 25, but here is Miami. This is more a commentary on just how good Alabama football was this weekend. The Hurricanes are a good team and will rebound with a solid season in a weak ACC.
Is the ACC just even more weak than usual or is Virginia Tech a legitimate threat? Hard to say, but the defense looked pretty good against a solid offense in North Carolina. They forced turnovers when they needed to and it led them to victory. Could they become this year’s Arkansas?
Was it just the Ducks looking ahead to a big showdown with Ohio State this weekend or a sign of bigger issues? Probably a little of both which is why I have the Ducks way down in the pecking order of the middling PAC-12.
