Mercer Bears Players to Watch
QB Carter Peevy
Mercer used three quarterbacks last week with the freshman Peevy seeing the most action. Last week, Peevy completed nine of 12 passes for 139 yards and a score with an interception.
RB Tommy Pollack
The Bears used multiple options running the ball last week with Pollack as the main option. The freshman carried the ball a team-high 13 times a week ago for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
RB Nakendrick Clark
A transfer from Appalachian State, Clark received eight carries last week for 72 yards and a score. When looking at who leads the Bears in rushing on Saturday, Clark may be the most likely option.
RB Brandon Marshall
A redshirt freshman, Marshall received six carries last week that went for 62 yards and a touchdown. Similar to Pollack and Clark previously, don’t be surprised if we see a lot of Marshall on Saturday.
WR Ty James
Mercer won’t throw the ball a ton compared to running it, but when they do, their top receiving option is James. Leading the Bears in receptions and receiving yards last season, the redshirt freshman hauled in two passes for 60 yards and a score last week.
S Rick Lester III
Lester leads the Bears in tackles totaling five last week, as well as one pass defended. Expect Lester to play all over the field for the Bears.
LB Isaac Dowling
One of Mercer’s top linebackers is Dowling, a freshman from Lawrenceville, GA. Dowling totaled four tackles and 0.5 TFL last week.
CB Brogan Korta
Korta led Mercer cornerbacks in tackles last week with four total, included one pass defended. The freshman could shadow Metchie, Williams, and others on Saturday.
S Kainalu Pu’u Robinson
The redshirt freshman totaled two tackles with one TFL last week. Similar to Lester previously, expect Robinson to play all over the field in multiple roles.
WR Devron Harper
Harper is arguably the Bears No. 2 receiver behind James. The sophomore totaled 60 total yards a week ago with a touchdown split between rushing, receiving, and punt returns.
