Alabama football’s Jeudy has a tough start to his second NFL season

Alabama football has had four wide receivers drafted in the past two first rounds of the NFL Draft. Jerry Jeudy was the first of the four drafted, but he had a tough start to this NFL season.

Jeudy went down with a tough-looking injury in Denver’s season opener. We won’t share the video, but his lower leg was rolled up on a tackle. He was carted off the field with an apparent ankle injury. Whether he hurt his ankle or his lower leg, it was certainly gruesome.

Before his injury, Jeudy was torching the New York Giants secondary. He had 6 catches for 72 yards and wasn’t looking to stop there.

With this injury, the rest of Jeudy’s season is in question. Alabama football fans will have to wait for an official announcement, but it is rare for players to be carted off the field and make it back soon. He is certainly out for the remainder of Denver’s season opener, and he may be out for the season.

Alabama football has an unfortunate history with ankle injuries. Last season, Jaylen Waddle broke his ankle against Tennessee and missed the rest of the regular season. However, he was able to prove that an ankle injury doesn’t define an entire career.

With Jeudy potentially out for the year, the Broncos will be without their best weapon. His elusiveness can make an NFL defensive back miss, and he was expected to have a sophomore surge.

There are still other Alabama football receivers looking to have big seasons. Both DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle scored touchdowns in their NFL debuts. Henry Ruggs wants to be more consistent this year, and the big three receivers are all looking to dominate once again.

Until Denver announces the details of Jeudy’s injury, Alabama football fans can simply hope for the best.

UPDATE: Reports now say Jerry Jeudy suffered a high ankle sprain. This isn’t ideal, but it is certainly the best-case scenario after seeing the injury. There is no broken bones, which is excellent for the Tide star.
