Alabama football was expected to easily handle Mercer this week. They absolutely took care of the Bears, but it may not have been the complete game that many expected. It seems like Nick Saban had some legitimate

gripes about how his team was practicing earlier this week

.

They got the win, but will Alabama football hold onto the top spot in this week’s top 25 power rankings. It was yet another wild week to start the 2021 college football season. It started with a big upset as Ohio State was taken down, for the first time ever, by the Oregon Ducks, and it ended with more upsets. One of which was Alabama’s own Jacksonville State taking down the Florida State Seminoles.

Long story short, there is going to be a lot of movement in this week’s power rankings. Did Alabama football do enough to prove that they are still the best team in the country? Did the PAC-12 pileup see some movement? Who stepped up? Who disappointed? Time to find out.

Virginia has been solid to open 2021. Scoring over 40 points in both victories. They may be the next team up in the weak ACC with North Carolina and Miami struggling to start the season.

BYU is back to winning after a strong 2020 campaign. They took down their rival and AP top 25 Utah by 9 points. They struggled slightly in week one, but seemed to start figuring things out this week. BYU is a solid team.

Don’t look now, but Sparty is on the way back. After a big win against Northwestern in week one Michigan State took care of business against Youngstown State. They haven’t been flashy, but they have won big in both games.
