USC, Utah, and Arizona State were locked in a dead heat after week one. As you can see, Arizona State was the only one of the three to make it out of week two undefeated. They did what they were supposed to do. They get a big game with BYU next week. The Sun Devils could still make some noise in the PAC-12. Don’t overlook them.

The game was not as close as the final score indicated. Some questionable play-calling in the third and fourth quarters by Oregon kept Ohio State in the game. I can’t question the Buckeyes offense. It has been spectacular thus far, but the defense is nowhere near the caliber we have come to expect from Ohio State. The good news is, it is three straight winnable games before Maryland comes to town.

The Badgers defense was strong yet again in a big win over Eastern Michigan. They get a break before taking on Notre Dame on 9/25. They are still a solid team and I look for them to take care of business against the Irish.

The real season begins next week for the Gators who have been good to start 2021. It has been hard to gauge how good they are given the quality of opponents has been lackluster the first two weeks. Next week is the measuring stick game vs. Alabama football. Coach Saban warned his players that if they don’t wake up then they will “get shook” by the Gators. I agree with that sentiment.

In good conscience, I cannot overlook what Auburn has done to start Coach Harsin’s tenure. 60+ points in back-to-back games for the first time since pre-WW2. Yes, the opponents’ weren’t great, but scoring 60 points is difficult to do regardless of who the opponent is. The defense is still tough to gauge but the offense is legit. There will be a showdown next week with Penn State coming to Jordan-Hare. This will help us further figure out just who this Auburn team really is.
