Crimson Tide fans it’s time for more Alabama Football BOLD Predictions. A hunch tells me some of you missed the 11, bold predictions I offered for the Miami and Mercer games. Returning readers know the picks may have been bold, but getting them correct has been a problem.

Despite how it may appear, they are not offered as humor. They are serious efforts to first be bold and then be right more than wrong. They are some gray areas for grading. Results that are partly one way, but mostly another way are graded by the ‘mostly’ portion. Accountability demands results be reported. For the season the results are: Correct – 3; Wrong – 8.

A quick summary of last week shows a dismal result with one correct prediction (and I confess, it was cheating.) It was Mercer would not miss an extra point on purpose – unlike in their opening game, 69-0 win.

Last week’s Wrong Alabama Football Bold Predictions

The entire Mercer Bold Predictions post is available here.

  • “In a combined total of 14 or more passes, the two backup Tide QBs (Tyson and Milroe) will connect on more than 50 percent of their passes, with one or more touchdown passes”

What happened is the pair threw four passes with one completion and zero touchdowns.

  • “Will Reichard will be perfect on all field goals and PATs”

What happened is Reichard made two field goals and missed one. He made all his PATs.

  • At least one Tide punt will be “at least a 46-yarder”

The longest punt was a 44-yarder by James Burnip

  • “Trey Sanders will lead Tide rushers by gaining 100 or more yards”

Brian Robinson Jr. was the leading Tide rusher with 70 yards.

  • “either JoJo Earle or Jameson Williams will score a touchdown on a return”

JoJo Earle returned three puts for a total of 45 yards and no TDs. Williams had no returns.

I am confident this week will produce better results. Let’s press on.
