Alabama Game Saturday: Alabama vs Southern Miss odds and prediction for CFB Week 4 game

facebooktwitterreddit

Alabama Football returns to Bryant-Denny Saturday to face Southern Mississippi. The schools have played frequently going back to 1947. The Alabama Crimson Tide has played the Golden Eagles more times than it has the Florida Gators. The series record is heavily in favor of the Tide at 37-5-2.

Alabama Football has a seven-game winning streak over USM and has won 16 of the last 17 games. The one loss was a stunning one in the 2000 season. Lovers of Alabama Football history regretfully remember the 1982 game. It was Bryant’s last in Tuscaloosa and a loss.

Southern Miss is 1-2 on the season, with losses to South Alabama and Troy, by a combined score of 52-16. The win was over Grambling State, 37-0.

The Crimson Tide will be looking to score 30 or more points for the 30th consecutive game. That is the longest, current FBS scoring streak and closing in on the all-time record of 31 games.

What to expect

As always, Nick Saban spoke highly of the next Crimson Tide opponent in his Monday preview. In reality, Southern Miss is no threat to the Crimson Tide. Saban will not want to run up the score but as was seen against Florida, work is needed by all the Tide’s position groups. The Alabama bench may not be used as much as is normal for this type of game.

Facing little challenge from the Golden Eagles, Alabama will win easily.
