Alabama football was prepared in every facet of the game
Heading into this week’s game, Alabama football fans knew the importance of coming away with a win. Ole Miss was undefeated and highly ranked. They have one of the best offenses in the country, and Lane Kiffin knows what it takes to keep it close with the Tide.
Kiffin was so confident that he was talking smack before the game in his interview. When asked about what it would take to beat Alabama football, he mostly disregarded the question. Instead, he finished his interview by saying, “Get your popcorn ready.” He then tossed off his headset before he could be asked another question.
While Kiffin focused on what to say and how to troll the Tide, Alabama football got more than their popcorn ready. They got all three facets of their game ready.
On offense, Alabama was firing on all cylinders. This was a necessity to win, but it was also expected. Even facets of the game that have struggled previously worked on Saturday. The offensive line dominated the trenches, and Bryce Young had plenty of time to throw the football. Young did not destroy the box score, but he was incredibly efficient and distributed the football well. Eight different players had receptions. If you take away the one interception, Young had a near-perfect game.
The key for the defense was to remain disciplined and avoid the big plays. That is exactly what happened. Alabama was properly lined up, and the Rebels only had one play go for over 20 yards. The Tide got pressure in the backfield, and Ole Miss could not keep up.
Alabama took care of business on Saturday in a massive game. They still have tough tests ahead, but this was the best all-around performance of the season against the best team they have faced so far. Lane Kiffin can tell you to get your popcorn ready, but Saban worried about getting the team ready instead. That’s why Alabama football emerged as victors.
