Alabama Football: What losing SEC coaches said after week five

Saturday was a celebration for Alabama football fans who watched their defense put Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin in their proper place. There was no post-game popcorn for the Ole Miss head coach, who is not close to being as clever as he thinks he is.

Kiffin was not the only embarrassed SEC coach on Saturday. Whether he admits it or not, Jimbo Fisher is probably the most overpaid guy in college football. Eli Drinkwitz needs to rethink his build plan for Missouri. Dan Mullen again showed how overrated he is. Ed Orgeron is seemingly oblivious to being a buffoon, but no coach has so deteriorated a top SEC program as Coach O.

Coaches need an Alabama Football Tutorial

Some coaches on those five teams could be destined for a ‘Saban-rehab’ future if the Alabama Football head coach would ever consider them. All five could immediately use a ‘how to package your message’ tutorial from Nick Saban.

Let’s check out what the losing SEC coaches had to say on Saturday.

"The storyline of the game was they did a great job on defense. Great players, they made great adjustments with coach, and, you know, we didn’t.We got dominated up front. That ain’t hard to see."

That was not bad by Lane – especially after his pregame stunt.

"We’re an inch or two short. We got to find them, got to figure them out and grow. You play every week to be a good football player, a good team and to win the game. We have to line up each week and play a good game and see where the year takes us."

Jimbo and the Aggies are not in a good place – with Alabama Football headed to College Station.

"382 yards. I guess that’s sputtering. We had 382 and they had 211"

Florida fans roasted Mullen for his lame response. Just one of the multiple problems for Mullen and the Gators is the purported ‘Quarterback Whisperer’ does not appear to have confidence in his QB throwing the football.

"I take it one day at a time. I don’t look at it like that. It’s just about getting better one game at a time."

More Coach O, from al.com,

"we couldn’t run the football, we couldn’t block well up front, and we couldn’t tackle the quarterback."

Taking one day at a time for Orgeron may not include many more days as the LSU head coach. His record since winning a National Championship is pathetic.

"I didn’t do my job today."

Drinkwitz opened his post-game remarks with that line. It might have been the one thing he got right all day. The Missouri defense is dreadful and Drinkwitz is forced to consider cutting his DC, Steve Wilks lose during the season.

Sam Pittman deserves a pass in this post. His team had no chance against Georgia and after the game, traditional coach-speak was all that was needed.

No excuses were needed for Alabama Football in Tuscaloosa. The best statement made was a silent one, from Big Al, dancing in a popcorn box.
