Alabama Crimson Tide: Week Five SEC Power Rankings
By Ronald Evans
No. 6 Arkansas Razorbacks (4-1); (1-1in SEC); Last week No. 4; Predicted regular season ceiling – 8 wins
Sam Pittman’s team was so outmatched against Georgia, it was crushing to Razorback fans. The Hogs have improved rapidly under Pittman and one bad loss should not define them. They are an experienced group and they play with a lot of heart. They will bounce back. Final Score: Georgia 37 – Arkansas 0.
No. 5 Auburn Tigers (4-1); (1-0 in SEC); Last week No. 8; Predicted regular season ceiling – 7 wins
That Auburn struggled one week to beat a now 1-4 Sun Belt team (Georgia State) and followed that with a road win in Baton Rouge says much about Auburn and LSU. LSU is that weak. Auburn has the talent to win many games, but its inconsistencies are a red flag. The near-miracle plays Bo Nix made Saturday night will not occur with enough frequency to beat good teams. The Tigers will get a reality check on Saturday.
No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats (5-0); (3-0 in SEC); Last week No. 7; Predicted regular season ceiling – 9 wins
This could be Mark Stoops’ best team. Trademark of Stoops’ teams, the Cats don’t quit. Even when it takes a blocked field goal, touchdown to win a game. The offense is not explosive but it is good enough to win another four games, and maybe more. Whatever the oddsmakers say, The Cats will not the underdog when LSU comes to Lexington on Saturday.
