Alabama Basketball: 2022 recruiting class has potential to be Tide’s best ever
By Matt Melton
Alabama Basketball has seen some phenomenal recruiting classes come to Tuscaloosa in recent years, each of which have made many different impacts both on-and-off the court. While a few recent classes may obviously stick-out in-particular, which single class could you label as “the best?”
Obviously the 2017 and 2021 classes come to mind, but what if the Crimson Tide’s best recruiting class has still officially yet to happen? As a matter of fact, potentially Alabama’s best basketball recruiting class ever is still on-going, and as you’d probably guessed by now, that is the Class of 2022.
Alabama Basketball’s 2022 recruiting class has potential to be the Crimson Tide’s best ever.
The Crimson Tide picked up their first commitment of the 2022 class a little over a week ago in five-star point guard Jaden Bradley. Attending IMG Academy (FL), Bradley is one of the top point guards in the country, and is currently rated as the No. 5 highest-rated recruit in Alabama Basketball history.
With an already phenomenal start to the 2022 class for the Crimson Tide, it has the potential to get even-better over the next couple of months.
Alabama is currently in the mix for two notable five-star prospects in small forward Brandon Miller (Cane Ridge, TN), as well as power forward Jarace Walker (IMG Academy, FL). Rated as Top 15 overall players nationally, both Miller and Walker are regarded as two of the top overall forwards in the country with Walker (a teammate of Bradley at IMG) considered as the top power forward.
While players such as Miller and Walker stick-out as remaining targets, the Crimson Tide are also in the mix for a few other notable 2022 prospects including guard Chandler Jackson (Christian Brothers, TN), as well as forward Kimani Hamilton (Clinton, MS).
Alabama Basketball has never landed multiple five-star prospects in a single recruiting class in school history, as well as having landed only six five-stars ever. When looking at the what the Class of 2022 could-be overall, there is a chance for potentially three five-stars, as well as a potential Top 5 class nationally.
Now no, it is not a lock that all of this actually happens. However, the potential is 100% there for it to happen.
Coming off an SEC Championship and Sweet Sixteen appearance a year ago, the Crimson Tide now enter the 2021-22 campaign with what will be a Preseason Top 15 team nationally. Looking ahead to 2022 however, could this recruiting class potentially end-up as the best in Alabama Basketball history?
