Alabama football’s future remains bright

Despite the odds, Alabama football lost on the road to the unranked Texas A&M Aggies. This was the Tide’s first loss since 2019, and it broke many streaks regarding games against unranked opponents and Saban assistants.

This loss hurts, and it brings plenty of questions regarding Alabama’s future this season. However, there is a silver lining. Unlike most times Alabama loses in the regular season, this game will not take control away from the Tide.

Texas A&M lost to Arkansas and Mississippi State earlier this season. With two SEC losses, they have only a small chance of winning the division. Essentially, both Arkansas and Mississippi State would have to lose three SEC games, and the rest of the SEC West would have to lose at least two.

Because of this, Alabama football will win the division as long as they win out. That is not a guarantee, but it guarantees that the Tide control their destiny. After that, they would likely face off against the Georgia Bulldogs. A win in that game would cement the Tide’s stake in the College Football Playoff field. They would then simply have to win out and hoist the trophy.

The problem with Saturday’s loss isn’t that it hurt Alabama football’s chances of winning a national title. If they are the best team, they will still win it. The problem was that Alabama got exposed, and they now have no margin for error.

A loss to any opponent now ends Alabama’s hopes of making it to the CFP. They must remain perfect. They also looked like a team that was not ready to win a national title last night. The defense lacked focus, and the offensive line was abysmal. There were too many mental mistakes for a team looking to win a national championship.

These issues are concerning, but there is still time to fix them. At the end of the day, Alabama’s dreams can still become a reality. It may be less likely, but the sky is not falling in Tuscaloosa.
