No. 7 – Arkansas Razorbacks  (4-2); (1-2 in SEC); Last week No. 6; Predicted regular season ceiling – 8 wins; Next Game, Home vs. Auburn

We said last week one bad loss should not define the Razorbacks. Neither should a one-point loss on the SEC road.  In Oxford, they once again played with a lot of heart. Hat tip to Arkansas coach Sam Pittman for going for two points at the end, in a bold effort to win. Matt Corral had another huge game for Ole Miss, but the quarterback that did not deserve to lose was the Hogs’ K.J. Jefferson. Arkansas had 676 yards of offense and over 400 of those yards came through the passing and running of Jefferson. The difference in the game was an interception and lost fumble, plus a missed field goal for Arkansas. The Rebels had no turnovers.  Final Score: Ole Miss 52 – Arkansas 51

No. 6 Auburn Tigers (4-2); (1-2 in SEC); Last week No. 5; Predicted regular season ceiling – 7 wins; Next Game, at Arkansas

If Auburn has an edge over Arkansas, it is a thin one. When the Auburn offense is clicking, combined with its greatest advantage, a strong defense, the Tigers are a good team. The defense is good but not good enough when frequent offensive inconsistencies occur. Auburn gained over 300 yards against the very good Georgia defense, but it was one-dimensional with no effective running game. Georgia did not do a lot on the ground either, but it was efficient on offense and the Tigers could not cover Georgia receiver, Ladd McConkey. Final Score: Georgia 34 – Auburn 10

No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies (4-2); (1-2 in SEC); Last week No. 9; Predicted regular season ceiling – 9 wins; Next Game, at Missouri

The last two weeks, the Aggies were described as the SEC’s most disappointing team.  On Oct. 9, that story flipped, as for a few hours in College Station, the Alabama Crimson Tide became the SEC’s most disappointing team. The Crimson Tide made enough mistakes to lose two, or maybe three football games. Considerable credit for that belongs to the Aggies. Texas A&M had the better game plan. Not always, but more often than not, Jimbo Fisher and Mike Elko made play calls that the Crimson Tide could not handle. QB, Zach Calzada was outstanding for the Aggies. Final Score: Texas A&M 41 – Alabama Crimson Tide 38

No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats (6-0); (4-0 in SEC); Last week No. 4; Predicted regular season ceiling – 10 wins; Next Game, Georgia in Athens

This is Mark Stoops’ best team. Beating LSU is no longer a tough task, but the Wildcats destroyed the Bengal Tigers in Lexington. The Cats probably cannot hang with the Bulldogs in Athens but every Wildcat will go into the game believing they can win. Mark Stoops is making a strong case to become SEC Coach of the Year. Final Score: Kentucky 42 – LSU 21
