What did we learn from Alabama football’s win?

It was Homecoming in Tuscaloosa, which brings a wave of nostalgia. While Alabama football fans look at the past and think of their titles, Tennessee has to look 15 years into the past to remember the last time they topped the Tide.

Alabama celebrated with cigars at the end of the night, but they still need to get better. This is not the biggest game of their season, and they have holes on both sides of the ball that need to be filled.

As always, let’s break down how Alabama football performed this week before they have the bye. Things ended nicely, but there were still concerns that need to be fixed before the postseason.

We’ll break this one down by position in our weekly Crimson Tide report card.

Tight Ends: B-

The tight ends have been a strength for Alabama football this year, but the past few weeks have been struggles for them. There were too many drops against Texas A&M, and neither starting tight end saw a catch last week against Mississippi State.

Both of Alabama’s starting tight ends went down with injuries, but they both came back. They made some nice plays in the first few drives, but there were other mistakes. There were a couple of drops, and Cameron Latu had a false start. Latu also missed a block that allowed Tennessee to block the punt.

The tight ends took a step in the right direction, but there still needs to be growth. Jahleel Billingsley is a great player, but his contribution has been lacking in recent weeks. Latu made some big plays, but he needs to be more consistent.
