Alabama football’s report card vs. Tennessee
Cornerbacks: C
Alabama has youth at corner, but they’ve stuck with the experienced options so far this season. It has led to plenty of highs and lows, but there are too many questions about when the younger guys will see the field.
With some bad plays, you may see more competition later this year. Jalyn Armour-Davis had a nice interception, but that was the only amazing play from the secondary. Josh Jobe had some busted plays that led to big scores. Some were red flags because of the scheme, but others were simply poor plays for Jobe.
The corner play was simply bad. There were some bright spots, but the overall mistakes were too much. If Alabama does that against other opponents, they will lose another game this year.
Safeties: D+
Alabama football has safety concerns this year despite bringing back five key contributors from last year’s team. Jordan Battle has been great, but Hellams has had some head-scratching plays.
Daniel Wright got some reps early, but he showed why he started the season as a reserve player. He simply got beat on multiple plays, and he was inevitably benched.
Tennessee was supposed to be a mobile threat, but they attacked through the air. Credit Hooker for thriving and making big plays, but the safety play was unacceptable.
