A distinction should be made about Alabama Football ‘Duds’ from the Tennessee game. The description applies almost solely to bad plays, not to players who had bad games. In fact, some of the players listed below for their ‘Dud’ plays were on the earlier ‘Studs’ list for their overall performance.

Alabama Football Duds

Special Teams – Chris Braswell

Braswell roughed the Tennessee punter, coming in at a bad angle trying to make a block. Another Crimson Tide player inadvertently added to Braewell’s momentum in what was a clear penalty on the Crimson Tide.

Safety – Jordan Battle

Battle was out of position on one Tennessee touchdown reception and in the same play, missed a tackle after the reception. The initial misalignment might have been a communication issue with another player.

Wide Receiver – Jameson Williams

Along with his strong stats, Williams had a fumble that ended a Tide drive and he dropped a pass.

Tight End – Jahleel Billingsley

Billingsley dropped a pass.

Special Teams – Cameron Latu and Henry To’o To’o

The Crimson Tide duo failed in punt protection allowing the Vols to block a James Burnip punt.

Alabama Football Defensive Coaches

According to Nick Saban, Josh Jobe was looking for a pass protection call from the defensive staff, when a quick Tennessee snap caught him unprepared and resulted in a 70-yard touchdown reception.

The Duds list, being almost as long as the Studs list is misleading. Saturday night was a big Alabama Football win and like every win over the Vols should be enthusiastically celebrated.
