Alabama Football: 3 takeaways from win vs. Tennessee Vols

3 takeaways for Alabama football vs. Tennessee
1. Bryce Young has wheels
This has been a point of emphasis all season. Alabama football hasn’t had a truly mobile quarterback since Jalen Hurts. As a recruit, Bryce Young was seen as one of the fastest quarterbacks in the sport. Some compared him to Kyler Murray due to his ability to scramble. However, he has tried to win with his arm all year.
Against Tennessee, Young finally showed off his legs. Alabama didn’t call any quarterback runs, but Young scrambled for first downs on a few occasions. Tennessee did a good job of locking down receivers, so he had to do this to extend drives.
He ended the day with 42 rushing yards and a couple of touchdowns on the ground. This proves that he has what it takes to win with his legs when he needs to.
Young is still hesitant to leave the pocket. He wants to find the open receiver. However, fans at least know that he can attack defenses in a few different ways. He is truly a dual-threat quarterback who knows what it takes to win.
This was a solid win, but things were far from ideal. There were plenty of learning points for Alabama football, and we’ll see how they respond in two weeks against the LSU Tigers.
