Alabama Football: Studs in Duds in Bama Win over Tigers
By Ronald Moody
Running Game
Alabama had a team total of six yards rushing.
SIX!
I never believed under a Nick Saban-led team; this was possible. The previous low under Saban was fourteen years ago against LSU, when the Tide gained 20 yards.
Old reliable Brian Robinson Jr.’s stats on the night: 13 carries for 18 yards for a paltry 1.4 yards per carry. I do not blame him for these despicable numbers. The offensive line was whipped all night by an undermanned LSU squad.
Tight Ends
Cameron Latu and Jahleel Billingsley’s pictures should be posted on all milk cartons.
The tight ends were an integral part of the offense early in the season and now there is no production from the position.. Latu dropped the first pass of the game and Billingsley did not even catch a pass.
Special Teams
Kicking woes give Alabama fans nightmares. Last season, Will Reichard eased those concerns as he was perfect on field goals (14) and extra points (84). However, he missed a field goal and extra point against LSU. Part of the reason was backup quarterback Paul Tyson not placing the ball right promptly. Hopefully, this is a one-game snafu.
Alabama football hosts New Mexico State next Saturday. Perfect timing for the Crimson Tide to work on their trouble areas before a gritty stretch run.
